Friendship groups weigh plans to enhance Iran-China ties

 

TEHRAN, Nov. 26 (MNA) – Delegations from Iran and China made preparations for a meeting of the Friendship Association in Tehran aimed at promoting relations between the two nations.

The chairmen of Iranian and Chinese political delegations held a meeting in Tehran on Saturday in advance of the 14th meeting of Iran-China Friendship Association.

The representative of Iran, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, highlighted the opportunities for mutual and multilateral cooperation between Tehran and Beijing considering Iran’s accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS.

For his part, Wanming Yang, the chairman of China’s friendship association with foreign countries, said Iran can work with China in the completion of the Belt and Road project.

The Friendship Association is going to discuss a range of issues, including the promotion of bilateral ties in the cultural, tourism, economic and trade areas, helping accelerate the process of implementation of a 25-Year Partnership Cooperation Agreement between Iran and China, and Iran’s special status in the Belt and Road initiative.

The chairman of China’s high-ranking delegation will meet a number of Iranian officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, and the Municipality of Tehran to discuss bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest.
