Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says that the government lacks the necessary honesty to help a political solution to stop the war against Gaza.
Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Monday night.
During the meeting, the top Iranian diplomat described the trend of bilateral relations between Tehran and Doha as growing.
Referring to the common view of Tehran and Doha regarding the necessity of an immediate end to the Israeli regime’s war against Gaza, Amir-Abdollahian explained Iran’s diplomatic efforts regarding the issue.
Referring to the threats of the Zionist regime regarding a ground military attack on Rafah, he said that the US government claims that it is not seeking to expand the scope of the war in the region, and at the same time, it has not reduced the supply of weapons and military equipment to the Israeli regime to kill the Palestinians.
Reaching an agreement and a political solution to end the war against Gaza can be achievable if the US chooses a ceasefire instead of the continuation of the war, he added.
The Iranian foreign minister also hailed the diplomatic efforts of Qatar in order to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He went on to say that Hamas and the Palestinian Resistance showed their good will for reaching a political solution, but Netanyahu still prioritizes the option of war, and the American government on the one hand practically supports the war and on the other hand, speaks of peace and truce.
Al-Thani, for his part, emphasized his country’s determination to develop relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Prime Minister of Qatar, while thanking Tehran for its active diplomacy in supporting Palestine and the stable security of the region, explained the results of his country’s efforts in helping to form a political agreement and establishing a ceasefire in Gaza. He stressed that Qatar’s diplomatic efforts will continue in this direction.
