Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has planted an olive sapling in his office premises in Tehran to honor the resistance shown by the Palestinians in the face of the Israeli aggression in Gaza.
Ayatollah Khamenei on Tuesday planted three saplings, including an olive sapling, a cedar sapling and a fruit tree sapling, on the occasion of Iran’s National Tree Planting Day.
Ayatollah Khamenei also used the occasion to refer to the recent elections held in Iran and said in a short address to reporters that people’s presence in the elections was an epic and a jihad for the country.
“I thank the Iranian nation for turning up at the ballot boxes, the Iranian nation carried out a jihad,” he said.
The Supreme Leader added that by turning up at the ballot boxes, the Iranian people neutralized plots hatched by the enemies of the country to discourage people from taking part in the votes.
More than 25 million people voted in two separate elections in Iran on Friday to choose members of the country’s parliament and the Assembly of Experts.
