Iranian president Ebrahim Raeisi arrived in the holy city of Qom in the north of the country near the capital Tehran to inaugurate some projects carried out by his administration including a major telecommunication project.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the fiber optic network that covers the entire Qom province, Raeisi said that, “One of the important issues that should be taken into consideration by governments is that today, all the aspects of people’s lives, from business and knowledge transfer and different kinds of entertainment to administrative, organizational, financial and monetary communications, are all done in the cyberspace and based on the Internet. Moreover, people’s well-being in this context should be focused on and paid attention to.”
The president further highlighted his government’s plan to develop the fiber optic network throughout the country in order for people to benefit from high-speed and cheap internet, adding that “Definitely, the development of optical fiber network is one of the important cultural infrastructures in the country, and considering the fact that the Qom province plays a central role in the production of scientific, research, academic and seminary-related contents, the development of optical fiber in this province is of speacial importance to get these contents to the people inside and outside the country.”
With the implementation of this plan, the coverage rate of optical fiber coverage in the country will reach 7.5 million households and we hope to see people across the country benefit from this technology as soon as possible.
“With the efforts of our colleagues in the government, especially those in the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, solving the problem of slow internet speed is on the agenda, and we believe that even those who use the internet for games and entertainment should not have problems,” the president concluded.
Fiber-optic communication is a method of transmitting information from one place to another by sending pulses of infrared or visible light through an optical fiber. The light is a form of carrier wave that is modulated to carry information.
