Iran’s nuclear program aims for public welfare, not weapons: Pezeshkian

President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to its peaceful nuclear program, noting that the country’s intention to expand its nuclear industry is solely to meet public needs and improve national welfare, not to develop weapons.

During a visit to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran on Sunday, Pezeshkian expressed regret over widespread propaganda aimed at Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.

He pointed out that this campaign falsely associates nuclear technology only with atomic bomb production in the public mind.

The president stressed that the nuclear industry encompasses a wide range of scientific and industrial capacities.

Building a bomb, Pezeshkian said, is only a tiny, disproportionate, and inhumane part of this field, while the rest serves essential human needs.

Pezeshkian added that aggressive powers seek to deprive independent nations, including Iran, of advanced technology, aiming to keep dependent countries at the level of assembly industries.

The assassination of Iranian scientists results from certain countries’ fear of Iran’s scientific and technological independence.
